چکیده

Congenital heart disease (CHD) and invasive cardiac procedures are risk factors for infective endocarditis (IE) in children. IE with Achromobacter xylosoxidans is a rare case has high mortality rate. This report literature review aim to understand the factors, diagnosis, therapy, outcome of wirh xylosoxidans. We observed 14-months-old boy ventricular septal defect (VSD), history catheterization, 9 days fever febrile convulsion; tachycardia pansystolic murmur on tricuspid valve were found. Transthoracic echocardiography revealed vegetation valve. Monomicrobial clinical isolates consistently found three samples aerobic blood culture bottles. The patient was treated definitive antibiotic therapy 200 mg/8 hours ceftazidime 21 days. Bacterial growth not evaluation which performed after 48 therapy. Also, it that follow up period had no sixth day, size reduced. A CHD, especially VSD as an underlying condition who catheterization accompanied by murmur, should be suspected having IE. Then contributed better outcome.

[Conjunctivitis due to Achromobacter xylosoxidans: case report].

We report here a case of conjunctivitis in an immunocompetent patient due to Achromobacter xylosoxidans, which was associated with the use of rigid contact lenses. The bacteria were isolated from the scraped conjunctival swab as well as from the lens cleaning fluid. A. xylosoxidans is an opportunistic pathogen, especially in immunocompromised patients; however, in isolates of ocular infections,...

Native-valve endocarditis caused by Achromobacter xylosoxidans: a case report and review of literature

Achromobacter xylosoxidans is a Gram-negative aerobic bacterium first described by Yabuuchi and Ohyama in 1971. A. xylosoxidans is frequently found in aquatic environments. Abdominal, urinary tract, ocular, pneumonia, meningitis, and osteomyelitis are the most common infections. Infective endocarditis is rare. As far as we know, until now, only 19 cases have been described, including this curre...

Infective endocarditis due to Bacillus cereus in a pregnant female: A case report and literature review.

Incidence of infective endocarditis during pregnancy is around 0.006% with high maternal and fetal mortality. Bacillus cereus is an extremely rare cause for endocarditis in intravenous drug abusers (IVDA) or those with valvular disease or devices such as pacemakers. We report a case of B. cereus endocarditis, which, to the best of our knowledge, has never been reported in pregnancy. A 30-year-o...

A case of community-acquired Achromobacter xylosoxidans bacteremia in a patient with metastatic breast carcinoma is described. The patient's home drinking water was identified as the source of her bacteremia. The case represents the first in which a community-acquired infection due to this organism has been attributed to a documented water source.
